The mayor of Troy is fighting to keep her political career alive.
Janice Daniels is launching a last minute challenge to stop a recall against her.
The recall effort against Daniels started when she made a homophobic comment on Facebook that went viral and gained national attention. There was also controversy over a planned transit center for Troy.
?I don?t look back I look forward and I hope to improve the city of Troy in any way that I can,? said Daniels.
Those involved in the recall effort have turned in enough signatures, but Daniels has questioned the validity of some of those signatures based on the date.
A well placed source inside the Oakland County GOP tells Local 4, her challenge is likely to go nowhere, which means voters in Troy will be asked whether they want her recalled in November.
?I will go door knocking; I will meet the people in the community. I?m having a state of the city address on September 20th. And I go to many events. I have speaking engagements that I attend. In any way that I can I have to get the message out who I am,? said Daniels.
As far as the recall election, Daniels fate is in the hands of the Oakland County Clerks office. They expect to make a decision on Monday.
